Videotape Oral HistoriesA PROJECT OF THE CROATIAN NEW YORKER CLUB AND THE CROATIAN FRATERNAL UNION
The Croatian New Yorker Club – A Community Alliance of Business People is a not-for-profit organization based in New York City that involves itself in various non-political endeavors within the Croatian-American community. The Croatian Fraternal Union is a large Pittsburgh-based fraternal organization with lodges throughout the United States, Canada and Croatia. Volunteers from the Croatian Life Stories Project seek out people of Croatian birth or descent to be interviewed about their life in the old country or here, immigration, their sense of being Croatian, their culture and traditions, and their personal and family values. After the videotape interviews are completed, they are added to the permanent collection at the CFU Museum in Pittsburgh. These tapes will be made available for viewing to museum visitors, students, and researchers alike. Interviewees are requested to sign a release giving the tape to the CFU/CNYC for educational/non-commercial use. Volunteers from the Croatian Life Stories Project travel around North America conducting training sessions to train new volunteers on how to do interviews with people in the local Croatian community. There is no charge to the interviewee for making the tape. If you are interested in being interviewed, or know someone that might be, would be interested in being trained as an interviewer, or would like the Croatian Oral History Project to visit your community – Please contact: Anton Angelich or Michael Krizmanich |
